We offer smart, fun and structured training to help you get in the best possible shape for your fitness and event goals with our 121 coaching service. We have over 20 years professional experience coaching all levels from beginners to pro athletes.

FTP Power Testing

Functional Threshold Power (FTP) represents your ability to sustain the highest possible power output over 45 to 60 minutes, depending on whether you’re a trained athlete or not. As a result 95% of the 20 minute average power is used to determine FTP. Regular assessments of your FTP give you an indication of whether you are improving your performance. Plus, FTP provides a good ‘benchmark’ on which to base cycling-specific training zones.

Sports specific fitness training is the key to any successful event preparation in addition to keeping healthy and injury free. We use a mix of bike power training, strength training, core conditioning, running speed drills and developmental stretching. A big part of what we do here at DoE is making you stronger on the bike which is achieved from prescribed bike power interval where you’ll be held at set powers based on your current FTP score on our WAHOO smart trainers.

Improving your bike handling, gear selection, ascending, descending and cornering skills is part of becoming a better rider. This can be achieved with some outdoor 121 sessions, whilst we can work on your pedal stroke efficiency, optimum riding posture and core strength in our gym. We also offer 121 running and swimming sessions to help athletes improve their form, cadence and speed. Often these drills will be included in our training plans to carry on practising.

Online Training Plans

Training plans specifically designed to your ability level, event and needs. Professionally structured workouts and nutrition delivered to you online through training peaks software. After an initial consultation about your training goals we can offer fully bespoke plans or give you access to a library of plans and workouts in one of our DoE Memberships.
